SEDALIA, Mo. —
Ty White’s sixth-inning double drove in the go-ahead run and the Sedalia Bombers defeated the Joplin Outlaws 5-3 in a MINK League game Saturday night at Liberty Park Stadium.
White, who was 3-for-3, doubled and drove in a run in the fourth inning as the Bombers outhit the Outlaws 11-9 and swept the two-game series.
The Outlaws (12-20, 10-19 MINK) return for their last home game of the season against Tulsa in a nonleague contest at 5 p.m. today at Joe Becker Stadium.
Enrique Finol’s two-run single in the first inning gave the Outlaws a 2-0 lead against Bombers starting pitcher Peter Fairbanks, a 6-foot-5 left-hander from Webster Groves who pitched in six games, all in relief, last spring for the University of Missouri.
Matt Turner drew a one-out walk before singles by Max Ayoub and Kyle Dickens loaded the bases for Finol, whose single was the Outlaws’ third consecutive hit.
The Outlaws didn’t score again until Koby Chadick led off the ninth inning with a pinch-hit home run.
Meanwhile, Outlaws starter Chad Bradford held the Bombers scoreless until the fourth inning, when the Bombers tied the game on two-out RBI doubles by Tony Sandifer and White after Nick Delorenze was hit by a pitch.
Bradford, a right-hander, was relieved with two outs in the seventh inning. He allowed nine hits, walked two and struck out six.
The Bombers (18-12, 18-12) added a run in the seventh inning on Randy Medillien’s solo home run and a run in the eighth on Jess Cartner’s RBI double.
