SEDALIA, Mo. — Morgan Eye scored 25 of her 29 points in the second half as undefeated Montrose defeated Verona 61-50 in a girls Class 1 quarterfinal game Saturday afternoon at State Fair Community College.
Verona (24-6) led 22-21 at halftime before Eye went on her scoring spree, including 11 of 14 free throws.
Jenna Chadd, 5-foot-4 sophomore, led Verona with 19 points and 5-6 sophomore Tristan Carraquillo scored 12 before she fouled out with 6:25 left with Montrose leading 41-39.
Jessica Smith, 5-6 sophomore, had 10 points for Verona.
Eye, 5-11 senior averaging 23 points per game, scored three field goals in the fourth quarter on offensive rebounds.
