NEOSHO, Mo. —
Joplin picked up its first volleyball victory of the season by defeating Neosho 25-15, 25-14 in a nonconference match Thursday night.
Beth Cox had six kills and Kellie Stringer and Olivia Hampton each had four kills for Joplin, which evened its record at 1-1.
“It feels great,” said Joplin’s Ashley Hill, who is in her first season as head coach. “They were a little slow coming out but they finished strong.”
Chloe Hadley had 10 assists and six digs for the Lady Eagles, and teammate Jessie McMullen had eight digs.
Joplin won the junior varsity match 25-10, 25-8 for its second consecutive victory.
Joplin plays at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Nixa in a nonconference matchup.
Webb City clips Vikings
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Webb City improved to 2-0 with a 26-24, 25-12 win over the Parkview Vikings.
Jessi Heuertz had 11 assists and two aces for the Cardinals while Katie Box added four blocks and five kills. Hailey Roderique had five kills and a block. Sharenda Campbell had six digs and Kaitlin Jaeger had eight kills and a pair of blocks.
Republic 25-25, Carl Junction 19-22
REPUBLIC, Mo. —The Tigers, who ousted the Bulldogs in the first round of the Class 3 playoffs last season, dropped them to 1-1 by claiming the nonconference decision.
Leaders for Carl Junction included Mikenna Eberhart (five digs), Mackenzie Valenti (seven kills), Katelyn Joyner (seven assists) and Johanna Lingner (two aces).
Carl Junction resumes at Carthage on Tuesday against another Central Ozark Conference Large Division opponent.
Miller beats Thomas Jefferson
MILLER, Mo. — The Cardinals evened their record at 1-1 by defeating Thomas Jefferson 25-13, 25-5 in a nonconfernce outing.
Seniors Caitlin Johnson and Kurstine Owens had seven kills and 17 assists, respectively, for Miller.
Miller visits College Heights on Tuesday for a Spring River Valley Conference test.
Jasper sweeps McAuley
JASPER, Mo. — The Eagles rallied from a 19-5 deficit in Game 1 to triumph 25-23.
Jasper, 2-0, made it a sweep by winning 25-7.
Jasper visits Rich Hill next Thursday for another nonconference outing.

Riverton 1, College Heights 1
RIVERTON, Kan. — College Heights Christian School forged a 1-1 tie with Riverton in a nonconference soccer match Thursday.
Dalton Zabbari scored for College Heights in the 66th minute, assisted by Drew Satterlee. Riverton tied the scored in the 16th minute on a goal by Derek Magag, assisted by Miles Robinson.
Riverton plays at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riverton, while College Heights plays at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carl Junction.

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — The Bulldogs, opening their Big 8 Conference schedule, received one-hit pitching from sophomore right-hander Sydney Koch.
Koch, who allowed Mallory Whitman’s one-out single in the seventh inning, struck out three and walked two.
Carl Junction, 3-5 overall, got two hits, two runs scored and one RBI from Natalie Fox.
Ryan Osborn added two hits for Carl Junction. Maddie Stevenson, who tripled, and Tori Graskemper each drove in two runs.
Carl Junction tallied five runs in the second and three in the fourth.
Webb City rolls
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Laney Kneib and Kaitlin Beason combined for a five-inning no-hitter and the Webb City Cardinals beat Willard 11-0.
Beason struck out five Willard batters in two innings and Kneib fanned four over three innings. Lexie Gardner had three RBI for the Cardinals (7-1, 1-0 COC).
