Jackie Dalton, defending points champion, posted his first modified A feature win of the season at Springfield Raceway last Saturday night.
Dalton, Carthage, defeated Erik Maggard of Springfield and current points leader Mitch Keeter of Webb City.
The top 10 in the main event also included Pierce City’s Brian Green in sixth, Oronogo’s Bobby Pearish in seventh, Granby’s John Yeoman in eighth and Joplin’s Kyle Slagle in 10th.
Track announcer/publicist Ronnie Williams said that 12 of the 16 starters finished on the lead lap.
Jon Yeoman, Granby, won the sport mod main event at the quarter-mile dirt track. Billy Dalton, Reeds, placed fifth.
Joplin’s Dave Comer and Webb City’s Kaleb Copher won A features in Legends Cars and Midwest Modz, respectively.
Dave Comer beat David Bauer of Webb City and Justin Comer of Joplin.
Ozark’s Nick Whitehead and Springfield’s Robert High won main events in street stock and pure stock.
Races at Springfield Raceway resume on July 24 with a regular points program. Residents from Ozark will be admitted free with proof of residence.
Nitro Nationals
The event, featuring remote control cars, is scheduled Friday starting at 7 p.m. and Saturday starting at 5 at Joplin RC Speedway, seven miles north of Joplin on Mo. 43.
There is no admission charge. Competition will be held in three classes — late model, modified and sprint.
Details: Terry Beckham II, (417) 438-0976.
Beckham, Webb City, finished fourth in the A feature of the modified special presented by Southern Modified Promotions on Wednesday night at Muskogee Thunderbird Speedway.
Top three drivers in the main event were Jason Hughes (Westville, Okla.), Johnny Bone Jr. (Pea Ridge, Ark.) and Jesse Stovall (Galena, Mo.).
Lucas Oil Speedway
The late model Lucas Oil Dirt Series will visit the Wheatland (Mo.) track on Saturday night with the fourth annual CMH/Diamond Nationals.
Earl Pearson Jr., Jacksonville, Fla., has a three-race winning streak in the series.
Pearson, a four-time Lucas Series champion, has won the past two summers at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7:30. Admission prices are $25, $20 (seniors) and $5 (ages 6-15). A pit pass is $35.
Midway Speedway
The track at Lebanon at 8 tonight will offer a regular points show of modified, factory stock, street stock, pure stock, sportsman and Midwest Modz.
The Larry Phillips Birthday Showdown, featuring the late model Show-Me Racin’ Series, was canceled last week because of a muddy pit area after two days of rain.
Lucas Oil MLRA
BUCKNER, Mo. — The late model series, according to a recent release, has canceled its July 31 appearance at the Nevada Speedway.
The decision was mutual, according to MLRA officials.
“Both parties, with this being the first year of Shawn and Tracey Hendren promoting the race track, felt it wise to give them the opportunity to build on their program and go for it again in 2011,” stated the release from MLRA publicist Dan Robinson.
