One Joplin team won first place in its division during the Coca-Cola Youth Scholarship Bowling Tournament last month at Fourth Street Bowl.
A total of nine Joplin entries — three individuals and six teams — posted top-10 finishes in the tournament.
Beauty and Brains from Joplin captured the team crown in Division 4. Team members are Victoria Fleming, Lizzie Goddard, Allison Rickey and Laney Nelson.
Joplin teams claimed three of the top five places in Division 1. Late Entry (Haley Williams, Cody Thomas, Tyler Meyer and Kenny Phillips Jr.) took second place; Can’t Faze Us (Nathan Soria, Quincy Dutton, Zac Barbee and Tadd Nichols) was third; and Recalculating (Bryan Hembrough, Jakob Stratton, Meyer and Phillips) was fifth.
Hembrough rolled a 280 game during the team event.
In Division 2 team, Fourth Street Four (Shayla Dutton, Alyssa Adams, Quincy Dutton and Soria) finished fourth, and Mike-n-Ikes (Logan Vaughn, Makayla Borders, Stacia Olson and Hembrough) took sixth.
Meyer placed third and fifth in Division 1 singles and fifth in all events.
Phillips was ninth in Division 1 in all events.
There were a total of 296 entries in singles, 69 team entries and 232 all events entries.
Nathan Napier, of Tulsa, rolled a 300 game during the team competition, and Jacob Pilgrim, of Sapulpa, Okla., shot 298 during singles.
