ROGERS, Ark. —
Webb City pulled away over the final two minutes and claimed the Arvest Bank Hoopfest title with a 48-41 win over Rogers Heritage on Saturday.
Heritage, which took third last weekend at the Carthage tournament, trailed early before forcing a 31-all tie heading into the fourth quarter.
The two squads traded baskets for much of the final frame before Webb City (3-0) pulled away late for the win.
Webb City’s Phoenix Johnson scored a game-high 14 points and was named the tournament’s most valuable player. John Roderique added 11 points and Nate Brown had 10 for the Cardinals.
Kohl Slaughter, who had seven points on Saturday, joined Johnson on the all-tournament team.
Crist Olsen and Wyatt Kinnamon each scored eight points to lead the War Eagles while Luke Fryauf and Jacob Robbins had seven each.
Webb City is at Bentonville on Tuesday.
