SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. —
Playing its first round of the season, Missouri Southern ranked seventh after Tuesday’s first round of the Missouri Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at The Club at Porto Cima.
Central Missouri topped the 18-team field with a 298 total, one shot in front of Drury.
Missouri Southern posted a 314 total, three shots behind Rockhurst and Missouri Western and one shot in front of Southwest Baptist.
The Lions’ Andy Hogenmiller and Alec Wickey carded 4-over-par 76s to share ninth place in the individual standings. Both carded nines of 37-39.
The Lions’ other players: Jamie Voegeli 78, Andrew Maier 84 and James Newman 87.
Ryne Kloeppel of Central Missouri grabbed the lead with 1-under-par 71.
OCC gets by Bacone
Coming off a win at the Spike Fest Tournament in Ankeny, Iowa, the Ozark Christian College volleyball team continued to roll on Tuesday as they dropped Bacone College 25-11, 25-11, 23-25, 25-22 at OCC.
Reilly Allmoslecher led the Lady Ambassadors with 10 kills and 11 assists. Chrissy Lahm had seven kills and 28 digs while Bo Owen added seven kills and 18 digs.
OCC, 6-0, will take on Central Bible in a pre-regional tournament beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Springfield.
PSU’s Dreiling honored
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg State linebacker Nate Dreiling was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Dreiling, a redshirt freshman from Hutchinson, recorded 16 tackles in the Gorillas’ 14-3 victory over Chadron State (Neb.) last Saturday.
It was the most tackles by a PSU player since Jimmie Taylor had 16 against North Dakota in the 2004 Division II semifinals, and it was the most tackles by a PSU freshman since Chris Brown made 21 in the 1992 Division II championship game.
Fort Hays State wide receiver O.J. Murdock received the offensive award.
