Carthage council adopts ‘adopt-a-park’ guidelines

From staff reports

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage groups and individuals for years have done volunteer chores in city parks, and Alan Bull, city parks director, hopes recent action by the Carthage City Council will encourage more local involvement.

The council on Tuesday passed a resolution creating a formal, adopt-a-park program in the city.

“We’ve had church groups and other organizations help us with around trees and things like that,” he said. “But we recently received a request from a group that wanted to adopt a specific  park, and we decided we ought to have something formal in place.”

The resolution sets guidelines for the program and outlines how the parks department will help the volunteering organization. More information is available on the program by contacting bull at 237-7035.
