Light snow, then light freezing drizzle in forecast

The National Weather Service in Springfield is predicting around a half-inch of snow this afternoon through tonight, followed by a light freezing drizzle into Thursday morning.

The few hundredths of an inch of ice doesn’t necessarily sound serious, but meteorologist Andy Boxell said it could be enough to form a hazardous glaze on streets by Thursday morning.

It will melt away by Thursday afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing, Boxell said.

Rain on Friday will bring a threat of minor flooding.
