COLUMBUS, Kan. —
A water main break this morning prompted the City of Columbus to issue a boil advisory for its residents and businesses in the city limits, and necessitated the closure of the Cherokee County courthouse.
According to Kelly Wells, an employee at city hall, crews from the department of public works are out working on it now. She was unsure of the location of the break, but said it was in an area that supplied the courthouse with both its tap water and water used in the building’s liquid-cooled air conditioners.
The courthouse will remain closed the remainder of the day and the boil advisory in place until further notice.
