JOPLIN, Mo. —
Mercy Hospital Joplin teamed with the American Cancer Society on Saturday to offer tours of the Early detection and Prevention Inflatable Colon (EPIC).
EPIC tours were offered of the 40-foot inflatable outside Macy’s at Northpark Mall. The inside of the giant colon showed visitors examples of polyps, cancer and other diseases. Physicians were on hand to talk about the importance of colon health, and there were informational booths and a cooking demonstration.
Kim Kory, Mercy’s community wellness coordinator, talked with the Globe about the importance of the event.
