Lindsey accused of shaking girlfriend’s baby

From staff reports

JOPLIN, Mo. — A probable-cause affidavit filed today in Jasper County Circuit Court alleges that Courtney Lindsey shook his girlfriend Amber Pittsley’s baby, Adriana Bowers, so hard Tuesday morning that the 7-month-old infant threw up and turned unresponsive, prompting Lindsey to call for an ambulance.

The baby was taken to Freeman Hospital West, where she was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma and then transported to Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City. The child was reported to be in stable condition today. The affidavit states that a doctor at Freeman termed the child’s injuries “life-threatening.”

Lindsey, 20, was arrested Tuesday and charged today with first-degree assault.

The affidavit states that he lives at 1606 S. Kentucky Ave. with the baby’s mother and that he was the only one home with the infant when she became ill. He reportedly told police that he was trying to feed her a bottle, but she became agitated and would not stop screaming and crying.

In an attempt to quiet the baby, Lindsey shook her “hard” with both hands, he allegedly told police.
