Missouri Southern to sponsor block at Third Thursday events tonight

— Missouri Southern State University will sponsor booths and tables and performances between Fifth and Sixth steets on Main Street tonight as part of the Third Thursday event.

The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Pat Lipira, vice president for academic affairs at MSSU, will race against other VIPs, including local TV personalities, in the Joplin “on fire” for Service race. 

MSSU Athletics will be on hand to take photos of children with Missouri Southern Lion athletes and cheerleaders.

The English Department will provide impromptu Shakespearian “street theatre” performances.

Also featured will be a Greek Life and Student Services gazebo, MSSU Foundation, MSSU Bookstore, and painting of “Stars of Hope” for flood victims in Minot, N.D.

Other departments taking part include admissions, biology/health sciences, art, dental hygiene and more.

The Ralph L. Gray Alumni Center will sponsor a tasting of special “MSSU 75th Anniversary Wine” for those over 21 at Caldone’s at 218 Main St.

Third Thursday is coordinated by the Downtown Joplin Alliance.
