LANGLEY, Okla. —
The manager of a resort near Langley on Sunday discovered possible prehistoric human remains while walking among a dirt bank at the resort.
Justin Alberty, in a statement released by the Grand River Dam Authority, said the remains were discovered early Sunday and that the GRDA took control of the site shortly after being notified.
The site is on private property, but lies within the project boundary for the GRDA’s Markham Ferry Project (Robert S. Kerr Dam).
Alberty said the GRDA is providing security at the site and is working with other state agencies, including the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office, to assess the site.
The GRDA also is working with Native American Tribes to ensure respect for the remains.
