JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —
State Sen. Ron Richard, R-Joplin, is working with the House of Representatives to remove part of a bill that would repeal the state statute that designates the international component of Missouri Southern State University’s mission, university officials announced today.
MSSU administrators said in a statement that they think the university needs time to study the issue. Sherry Buchanan, chair of the Board of Governors, called for discussions on the campus to examine the advantages and disadvantages of having the mission in state statute.
“We believe that additional internal communication will be beneficial,” she said in a statement.
