Directors choose bid for traffic light at U.S. Highway 60 and Kodiak

NEOSHO, Mo. — The first of many projects included in the Neosho Transportation Development District moved one step closer to becoming a reality Tuesday.

In an early morning meeting, the TDD board of directors voted to recommend a $784,418 bid from the construction firm of APAC-Missouri, of Columbia, to install a traffic signal and make improvements to the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and Kodiak road.

Newly elected TDD chairman Jim Cummins says he is excited to see the district move into the construction phase.

"I think it's a good day," he said. "Hopefully some day down the road folks will be able to look back and say today was the start of something good for this community."

The bid is subject to approval by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission in their Aug. 8, meeting.

Under the terms of the Neosho TDD's cost share agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation, MoDOT will handle all engineering, bidding and construction for all projects in the district.
