— Empire District Electric Co. shareholder Jim Evans said he considers the 14 percent favorable vote received by his resolution at the utility’s the annual shareholders meeting a full-fledged victory.

The resolution, proposed by Evans and the Missouri Sierra Club, would have directed the utility to provide shareholders with a report on the actions it was taking in the area of energy-efficiency.

Evans, of Republic, said the 14 percent favorable vote far exceeds the 3 percent threshold required to bring it back next year. Evans said rather than going to the cost of doing that, he thinks Empire officials will produce the report anyway.
