SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening across Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas, according to the National Weather Service forecast office at Springfield.
Frequents lightning, bouts of heavy rainfall and wind gusts of 40 mph will accompany the stronger storms. Severe weather is not expected.
The storms will be produced by an upper low that moves across the Ozarks through Saturday, creating a continued chance for isolated thunderstorms.
A stronger storm system will approach the region on Sunday, creating the possibility for strong to severe storms late in the day Sunday and into Sunday night.
Additional severe storm redevelopment will be possible on Monday as the slow-moving front approaches from the west. The front is expected to move through on Tuesday.
