Remnants of Isaac to arrive in Southwest Missouri Friday morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The remnants of Hurricane Isaac should arrive in the Ozarks early Friday morning and persist through Saturday. Between two and five inches of rain are predicted, with the lesser amounts along the Kansas-Missouri line.

The National Weather Service in Springfield predicts the heaviest rain is expected along and east of U.S. Highway 65 across the eastern Ozarks.

Locally heavier amounts will be possible.

“As with most land-falling tropical systems, there is the potential for isolated severe weather as well as gusty winds,” the NWS reported.

The NWS also is advising residents of the possibility that Labor Day activity along streams, rivers and lakes could be affected.
