JOPLIN, Mo. — A vacant downtown building in the 900 block of Main Street collapsed overnight, but there were no injuries. Main Street from Seventh to Tenth streets is blocked off this morning.

The building, owned by Boomtown Block LLC, was just south of the Rains Brothers Building that burned in March 2012, said Jeff Oliver, with the Joplin Building Department, who was on scene this morning.

The Joplin Fire Department was notified of the collapse just after 2 a.m. and the police officers brought dogs in to make sure no one was in the building, according Oliver.
