Joplin mosque support rally plans finalized

More than 700 are expected Saturday in Joplin’s Landreth Park for the Neighbors - Joplin Mosque Rally.

The event is set for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The crowd number is based on those who have indicated on the event’s Facebook page that they will attend.

The rally was planned in response to the Aug. 6 fire that destroyed the Islamic Society of Joplin mosque. Ozark Christian College student Ashley Carter organized the event.

Scheduled speakers include Rick Love, president of Peace Catalyst International.

“The rally is a beautiful example of what it means to love your religious neighbors,” Love said by phone.

Several performers also are scheduled to perform.
