Joplin High School band tapes segment for ‘Katie’

The Joplin High School band on Tuesday morning chatted with Katie Couric and Barry Manilow about the singer’s donation of instruments to the band following the May 2011 tornado.

Band members and Rick Castor, their director, were interviewed from the auditorium of the 9/10 campus via Skype, an online video-telephone program, as part of a segment for “Katie,” the syndicated talk show hosted by Couric.

The show is tentatively scheduled to air on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
