Deputies arrest man wanted for North Carolina bank robbery

AFTON, Okla. — Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies caught a man at a motel Thursday morning who was wanted for robbing a bank in North Carolina on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip from police in North Carolina, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department located Todd M. Foreman, 32, in a room at the Route 66 Motel in Afton and took him into custody.

Foreman was wanted for an alleged robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank in Charlotte, N.C. Deputies seized more than $5,900 cash found in the motel room as well as other alleged evidence linking him to the robbery, the Sheriff’s Department said. The vehicle Foreman was driving also was seized at the motel.

Detective Derek Derwin said the Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Department contacted the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department about 9 a.m. Thursday to inform them that the suspect might be in a restaurant in Afton. Deputies who checked out the tip traced the suspect to the motel and the arrest was made.

Foreman was being held at the Ottawa County Jail pending extradition to North Carolina.
