Tree planting and delivery scheduled for Joplin today and Saturday has been canceled because of the rain and thunderstorms, according to urban forester Ric Mayer.
Planting will be rescheduled for next Saturday, May 4. Volunteers can meet at Parr Hill Park, 18th Street and Kansas Avenue.
Mayer also asks that any volunteers who can deliver or plant trees on Thursday or Friday contact him at 624-6937. The work will start at 8:30 a.m. on those days.
An Arbor Day ceremony set for 11 a.m. today at Parr Hill Park by the city and Empire District Electric Co. is preparing to start.
