JOPLIN, Mo. —
Registration is open for Joplin’s new Miracle League.
The Will Norton Miracle Field was built by Joplin’s Rotary clubs with donations received as a result of the 2011 tornado. Members agreed to use a portion of those donations to build a ballfield for disabled children. It is located at the Joplin Athletic Complex.
Anyone with disabilities from ages 5 to 20 are eligible to play baseball in the league.
The season will start on Saturday, April 27, and games will be held on Saturday mornings for six weeks.
Everyone enrolled will get to bat at least once each inning, all players are called safe on bases and every player will score runs. Buddies for the players also are being enrolled now to help the players with batting and getting around the bases.
Other volunteers such as team mothers also are sought.
Player registration is $50. Players and volunteers may register online at www.JoplinMiracleLeague.org. Players also can be enrolled at “Sign Up Saturday” on March 9 at Missouri Southern State University.
