Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday joined the celebration at Franklin Technology Center in Joplin of Jasper County’s attainment as the nation’s first ACT Certified Work Ready Community.
Workers who receive the National Career Readiness Certificate may get jobs at employers that recognize the certification, who in turn can be assured that the worker is qualified. Jasper County achieved the designation based on the number of certified workers and the number of businesses recognizing the certification.
“Investing in the skills and education of workers, that is real economic development,” Nixon said.
