SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —
A heat advisory will be in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday for the Joplin region, according to statement released today by the National Weather Service forecast office at Springfield.
Temperatures will warm into the middle to upper 90s on Tuesday. Heat indices could approach 105 degrees.
Prolonged exposure or strenuous outdoor physical activity could lead to sunstroke, cramps or heat exhaustion.
Cars can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes when conditions outside become this warm. Always check the backseat and never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
Those overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
