Charles K. Gaudsmith

CARTHAGE, MO — Charles Kenneth Gaudsmith, 21, Carthage, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, from injuries sustained in the Joplin tornado. Charles Kenneth Gaudsmith was born Nov. 7, 1989, in Glendale, Calif., the son of Russell Gaudsmith and Melissa Renee (Johnson) Gaudsmith. Charles and his family moved to Carthage in 1998, from California. He was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School, Class of 2009, and was a cook for the south Carthage McDonald’s. He was active in Carthage Tiger sports serving as a team member of the Carthage Tiger Football squad and the Tiger Wrestling team. Survivors include a sister, Lashawnda (Travis) Cavener, Joplin, Mo.; his father, Russell (Donna) Gaudsmith, Hemet, Calif.; fiancé, Candice Harper, Carthage; three nieces, Cheyeanne, Kaylee and Alyssa; his grandparents, Jim (Jane) Johnson, Carthage, and Mike Libby, Sunland, Calif. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Melissa, who was with him in the Joplin tornado; a brother, Jody Gaudsmith; and a grandmother, Gaye Libby. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage. Minister Elmer White will officiate. Inurnment will be in Fasken Cemetery, northeast of Carthage. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
