JOPLIN, MO — Charles E. Oster, 77, Joplin, died May 22, 2011, from injuries sustained in the May 22, 2011, tornado. Charles was born July 30, 1933, in Roads, Mo., the son of Raymond O. Oster and Velma Rosebud Hampton Oster. He was a lifelong area resident and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was semi retired from Share Corp. of Milwaukee, Wis., as a salesperson and a member of Webb City First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Collie Club of America and was an official member of the Smoke-Free Joplin signature collection committee. Charles married Janet Hansen on Nov. 8, 1953, at Overland Park, Kan. She survives. He is also survived by three children, Timothy N. Oster and wife, Cindy, Joplin, Carey R. Oster and wife, Shirley, Carl Junction, Mo., and Cheryl Davis and husband, Jimmy, Independence, Kan.; a son-in-law, Kyle Randall, Webb City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Krista L. Stark, Kacie L. Oster, Erin D. Martin, Amanda Carper and Krystal Trosper; 10 great-grandchildren, Reannon and James Stark, Nicholas, Noah, Chloe, Cozette and Silas Carper and Olivia, Kale and Hudson Trosper; two brothers, Lee Roy Martins, Carrollton, Mo., and David Martins; and five sisters, Helen Bareita, Lexington, Mo., Marilyn Wansing, Harden, Mo., Linda Baker, Diane Feitz and Carol Jean Smith, Oshalada, Okla. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Mark Oster; brother, Robert Oster; stepfather, Andrew Hazlett; stepmother, Ruth Martins Oster; and his daughter, Loretta Randall expired on May 23, 2011, from complication of the tornado on May 22nd. The body has been taken for cremation and memorial services will be Tuesday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Mike Geisert, minister will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
