EAGLE ROCK, MO — May 1949 - May 2011 Carolane Jean Collins, 62, of Eagle Rock, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Joplin, Mo. Carolane was born May 9, 1949, in Southwest City, Mo., to Otis and Mildred (Easter) Burton. Carolane graduated from Jay High School in Jay, Okla. She married Thomas in Joplin on Dec. 6, 1991. Carolane worked as a Quality Control Tech for Eagle Picher Technologies for over thirty years before retiring. She was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Eagle Rock. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, canning and antiques. Carolane is survived by her husband, Thomas, of the home; one daughter, Sheila Merriman, of Joplin; one stepson, Nathan Collins, of Fort Scott, Kan.; one brother, Don Burton, of Disney, Okla.; one sister, Marilyn Turner, of Greenwood, Ark., five grandchildren, Tasia Lyn Sims, Matthew Tyler Merriman, Tiffani Nicole Renee Merriman, Trevor Brandon Merriman, and Jamie Collins; one great-grandchild, Aliviah Sims; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carolane is preceded in death by both her parents and one brother, James Burton. Church services were held Thursday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at Grand Lake Funeral Home Chapel in Jay. Officiating the service are Rev. Jody Ray and asst. Rev. Raymond Scott. Interment will follow at Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, Ark. Services under the direction of Grand Lake Funeral Home.
