Keenan Krise Conger


Keenan Krise Conger, age 49, of Carl Junction, went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2011, as a result of the tornado that went through Joplin.

Keenan was born on April 12, 1962 in Detroit, Mich., to Aaron and Barbara (Tucker) Conger. During the tornado, Keenan gave his life trying to protect his dogs, Sissy and Sally, who survived the storm.  Sissy and Sally gave Keenan great happiness.

Also surviving the storm was Keenan’s fiancé, Cheryl Hardin, whom he loved with all of his heart.

Keenan enjoyed working at a boat yard in his youth in Wyandotte, Mich., but was disabled in his later years. Keenan worked all his life to gain knowledge and was always working on motorbikes and found happiness in his grandchildren and pets. Keenan cared deeply for his family and friends. 

Keenan is survived by his mother, Barbara Jean Porter; one brother, Bryan Conger; and two sisters, Brenda Cook, married to Michael Cook, niece, Brandy Morton, her two children, Jayzier and Jozelyn, all of Carl Junction, Mo, and  Lisa Prater, married to Jeff Prater, niece, Megan Prater, her daughter, Annalyse, and nephew, Jordan Prater, all of Bronaugh, Mo.  Keenan’s relatives in Michigan include Phil and Teresa Conger; and cousins Paul, Rebecca, Steve and Jenny, whom he thought the world of on his father’s side; and a great-aunt and uncle on his mother’s side, Lavaughn and Lloyd Wethington.  Keenan’s adopted grandchildren, who gave Keenan the most happiness includes Jocelyn, Jacie, Brayden and their families, Cheryl’s son and daughter and by Cheryl’s mother who meant the world to him.

Keenan accepted Christ as his savior and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Messenger College Chapel, Joplin.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home of Carl Junction.
