Residents kept the house packed to the end of a 2 1/2-hour meeting of the Joplin City Council on Monday night to encourage the panel to resurrect some kind of curbside recycling proposal and to hear the details or support a $130 million recovery plan.

JOPLIN, Mo. — PCS Phosphate Co. has donated $35,000 to the Joplin School District’s Bright Futures program.

PCS Phosphate Co. is a subsidiary of PotashCorp, which makes animal feed ingredients in Joplin.

Executives and managers with PotashCorp on Wednesday presented the check to Joplin school officials.

Superintendent C.J. Huff said in a news release that he was grateful for the generous gift from the local business to the Bright Futures program. He said the donation would be put to good use.

Donate: Art auction planned to raise money for Joplin School District
Local business Images In Tile and a noted marine-life artist are auctioning off two pieces of art to raise money for the Joplin School District’s art programs. One piece is a floor mural that Images In Tile replicated from artwork by Robert Wyland, who uses only the name Wyland.
