JOPLIN, Mo. —
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved and is in the process of distributing more than $4 million in disaster relief funds.
Susie Stonner, a FEMA public information office, said, as of late Friday afternoon, 4,761 Jasper County households have registered for assistance, via the FEMA hotline and that $4,066,770 in financial assistance has been approved by the agency.
Stoner said, in Newton County, 189 households have registered for assistance and $77,552 in aid has been approved by FEMA.
To register for assistance, Stoner said, residents can call the FEMA hotline at 1-800-621-3362 or they may go to the FEMA Web site at www.disasterassistance.gov.
The agency has also set up disaster recovery centers at the United Methodist Church at 501 W. Fourth St., and on the MSSU campus.
