Holiday train, other events remain on schedule

JOPLIN, Mo. — Not all holiday festivities today are canceled.

The Kansas City Southern Holiday Express still plans to arrive today at 4 p.m. at downtown's Union Depot. It will be open for tours until 10 p.m.

Patrick Tuttle, director of the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the entrance to the event will be near B and Main streets, and city representatives will be on hand to direct parking.

Additionally, historic Murphysburg has announced that those who had floats in the Joplin Christmas Parade that has been canceled today may bring the floats to display at this weekend's Dickensfest event.

The floats can be placed on Third Street between Jackson and Byers Avenue after 5:30 p.m. Friday. Dickensfest organizers will find additional space if needed for float display.

Dickensfest runs through Sunday in the historic neighborhood and First United Methodist Church at Fourth Street and Byers Avenue.
