Joplin
• The block party originally scheduled for Saturday, June 13, by Open Door Ministry New Life Evangelistic Center, 831 S. Moffet Ave., has been postponed.

• Thane Snider, clarinetist, will perform special music for the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Pearl Ave.

• The 55+ Lunch Bunch of the First United Methodist Church, 501 W. Fourth St., will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The program will be the Ninth Hour Quartet composed of Missouri Southern State University students Tim Louderback, B.J. Huffman, Sam Green and Roger Anderson under the direction of Matthew Holt. They have performed in the “Forever Plaid” theater group at Joplin Little Theater, Coleman Theater in Miami, Okla., Route 66 Theater in Webb City, Old Opera House Theater in El Dorado Springs, and “Springtime on Broadway” in Webb City as well as other area appearances. Their motto is “Doing God’s work one song at a time.”
Cost of the catered luncheon is $6. The deadline for reservations is noon Monday.

• Christ’s Community United Methodist Church, 2700 E. 44th St., will host vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, June 14-18.
During the event students will “visit Rome” with Paul and the underground church. The event is for children from 3 years through fifth grade.

• Vacation Bible school will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 15-19, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 204 N. School St.
Classes will be held from pre-school to adults.

• A two-day seminar for women on “I Am Free … Ruin to Restoration” is scheduled Friday and Saturday, June 19-20, at Joplin Church of God, 1402 S. Michigan Ave.
The Rev. Pat Shook, of Tulsa, Okla., will be the guest speaker. The event is sponsored by Wheel of Life Coalition, a non-profit, non-denominational ministry dedicated to offering healthy solutions to persons.
The hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The cost is $10, which covers materials, Saturday lunch and a goodie bag. All area women are invited to attend.

• A coffee ministry is scheduled from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. every Wednesday at South Joplin Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 1901 Pearl Ave.
People are invited to drive through the church parking lot at 20th Street and Wall Avenue for a free cup of coffee. Church members will be available to answer questions about the church.

• Vacation Bible School will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 15-19, at Scotland Church of God, 2088 County Lane 172.
The event will have crafts, music, skits, games, snacks and more. All children going into kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome to attend.
