* All area men are invited to attend a breakfast meeting of the Greater Joplin Area Chapter of Business Men’s Fellowship at 7:30 a.m. today at Ryan’s Restaurant, Seventh Street and Range Line Road.
The group meets the first and third Saturday of each month.

* World champion power lifter Mike Ewoldson will perform during the 10 a.m. service on Sunday at New Creation Church, 2111 N. Main St.
Ewoldson will try to break his world record of lifting more than 1,000 pounds.

* The Rev. William Luce, from John Calvin Presbytery, will conduct a worship service at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 509 Pearl Ave.
Dina Atteberry and Suzanah Pugh will sing “Amazing Grace” and David Hanschu will also sing during the service.
The youth group will be going on a float trip from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Creekside. Those participating should meet at the 509 Building at 10 a.m.
There will not be a youth group meeting on Sunday.

* Vacation Bible school is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, 600 E. 50th St.
The event is for children ages 4 to 12 years old. The theme will be “Outrigger Island.”

* The 55+ Lunch Bunch will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 501 W. Fourth St.
Carolyn Pendleton, district chairwoman of the Route 66 Association, Southeast Kansas, will present the program “Traveling and Remembering the Mother Road.” The group’s In-House Trio will provide a musical program honoring Route 66.
In recognition of the recent Fourth of July celebration, people attending are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.
Cost of the catered luncheon is $6. The public is welcome.

* A covered-dish, family-style supper is planned at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Joplin Family Worship Center, 5290 E. Seventh St.
The supper will celebrate the lifetime ministry retirement of Pastor Phyllis Sloan.
The church will furnish the main course, dessert and refreshments. The public is invited to attend.

* Vacation Bible school will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, July 13-17, at Alba Friends Church, Quaker and Berry streets.
The event is for children from kindergarten through sixth grade. This year’s theme is Group’s Power Lab: “Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power.”

* Two sessions of vacation Bible school will be held Monday through Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 300 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
A session for age 4 through sixth grade is slated from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Youths in seventh through 12th grade will meet from 7 to 9 p.m.
