A Wheaton resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:05 a.m. Thursday on Route B, a half-mile west of Purdy in Barry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jeffrey J. Holenda, 25, was taken by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital, the state patrol said.

Holenda was driving a westbound car that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.

n A Cassville woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on Farm Road 1097, four miles south of Cassville in Barry County, the state patrol said.

Alice J. Shake, 44, was taken by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital, the patrol said.

Shake was a passenger in a southbound car driven by Michael D. Shake, 43, of Cassville. He lost control of the vehicle, and it left the ice-covered road and struck a tree, the patrol said.

n A Carl Junction woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday on Lone Elm Road, two miles north of Joplin in Jasper County, the state patrol said.

Cynthia A. Judson, 50, was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the patrol said.

Judson was a passenger in a southbound van driven by Leonard L. Lingle, 54, of Carl Junction, that slid off the road and struck a utility pole, cable box and phone junction box, the patrol said.

n Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 2:44 p.m. Monday on Highway 10, about four miles northeast of Grove in Delaware County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Both drivers, Jeanette Speer, 37, of Fairland, Okla., and Robert Carnahan, 49, of Gravette, Ark., were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said. A passenger in Carnahan’s car, Shawna Carnahan, 51, his wife, was taken to Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, the patrol said.

Speer was driving a northbound car when she lost control on the icy roadway, and her vehicle went into a broad slide, crossed the center line and was struck in the passenger side by the southbound Carnahan vehicle, the patrol said.

n A Neosho man suffered critical injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 2:31 p.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 44, just east of the interchange with U.S. Business Highway 71, the Joplin Police Department said.

John C. Powers, 61, was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, police said.

Powers’ vehicle slid off the highway and down an embankment, and then rolled, throwing him out, police said.
