NEOSHO, Mo. — A Joplin man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday on a charge that he sexually molested a 13-year-old girl.

Carlos A. Osorio, 50, waived the hearing in Newton County Circuit Court on a charge of first-degree child molestation and was ordered bound over for trial by Associate Circuit Judge Gregory Stremel. The judge ordered the defendant to make an initial appearance Monday in a trial division of the court.

Osario is accused of molesting the girl sometime between Aug. 8 and Aug. 15 at a residence in south Joplin.

A probable-cause affidavit states that the defendant is a registered sex offender.
