The Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team served four search warrants this week in Joplin and a fifth in Carthage, seizing various amounts of illegal drugs and making five arrests, according to a news release from the team.

Search warrants were served Tuesday at 512 N. Mineral Ave. and 1403 E. Hill St. in Joplin with the assistance of the Joplin Police Department special weapons and tactics team.

A 32-year-old suspect was taken into custody at the North Mineral Avenue address and charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance were being sought. Jasper County Circuit Court records did not show those charges filed by late Thursday afternoon.

The news release said 36 oxycodone and fentanyl pills, five Xanax bars and a loaded syringe were seized at the residence on Mineral Avenue along with a rifle. A second suspect was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

No arrests were made at the East Hill Street address.

The drug enforcement team served a search warrant Wednesday at a residence on Lot 9 of 1330 W. Birdsong St. in Carthage with the assistance of Jasper County Sheriff's Department's SWAT team and arrested Juan C. Brache-Mercado, 32. Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were seized, and Brache-Mercado was charged with delivery of a controlled substance.

A search warrant served Wednesday at 2025 S. Porter Ave. in Joplin resulted in the seizure of 11.5 grams of methamphetamine, 14 tabs of LSD and 2 grams of cocaine, according to the team. Dustin Holland, 35, was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance.

Another warrant served Wednesday at 510 W. B St. in Joplin resulted in the seizure of 11.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine and the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect. Court records did not show any charge filed on the suspect by late Thursday.
