NOEL, Mo. — A 26-year-old Wichita, Kansas, man drown late Friday near the Elk River dam at Noel while trying to rescue a woman who had been swept under, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The victim was identified as Jacob Farley.
The patrol's report said the unidentified woman had been swept under water at the dam, and that Farley had entered the river downstream in an attempt rescue her, but drowned.
Noel firefighters arrived at the location and were able to rescue the woman using a throw rope, according to the patrol.
Farley was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.
