Local students among Harding graduates
SEARCY, Ark. — The following local residents are among more than 800 graduates who received a diploma at Harding University’s recent commencement exercises:
Stefan Paic, of Diamond; Cameron Harrington and Ryan Davidson, both of Joplin; and Victoria Jones of Webb City.
Jasper studentgraduates with honors
EDMOND, Mo. — Justin Miles Brous, of Jasper, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Central Oklahoma as part of the spring 2019 class.
Brous earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology, exercise/fitness management.
Girard student insummer production
EMPORIA, Kan. — Evan Grantham, of Girard, Kansas, is part of the cast and crew presenting a stage production of “What I Did Last Summer” at Emporia State University.
“What I Did Last Summer” is a comedy set on a well-to-do vacation colony on the shores of Lake Erie during the final stages of World War II. Grantham plays the character of Ted.
Academic honorsgranted to CJ alumna
SEWARD, Neb. — Rachel Eaton, of Carl Junction, was among 258 Concordia University students to receive honors for the spring 2019 semester.
The top 25 percent of all undergraduate students who complete at least 12 credit hours on the traditional A-F grading scale qualify for the honors list.
Area students placedon spring honor rolls
Emily Svec, of Joplin, was named to the dean’s honor roll at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Ashley Burch, of Pittsburg, Kansas, was named to the spring 2019 honor roll at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas, for earning a GPA of 3.55 or higher.
Deardin Kelley, of Carl Junction; David Comstock, of Webb City; and Emily White, of Baxter Springs, Kansas, were named to the dean’s honor roll at Southwestern College, in Winfield, Kansas. Placement on the list depends upon earning a 3.7 GPA.
Molly Banwart, of Joplin, and Jenna Thompson, of Carl Junction, earned honors as a result of maintaining a semester GPA of 3.75 or higher along with commendations from their respective deans at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
Lucas Freeman, of Commerce, Oklahoma, was named to the president’s honor roll for the spring 2019 semester at Oklahoma City University, in Oklahoma City. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.9 or higher to meet the president’s honor roll requirements. Ryleigh McCartney, of Frontenac, Kansas, was named to the dean’s honor roll by maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
