Halfway through the year; I can’t believe it. It’s a time to review our 2019 goals, check in with ourselves and see how we’re feeling and to declare our independence from anything that may attempt to hold us back or keep us down.
I keep the Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 in my art journal and refer to it regularly: “For I Know The Plans I Have For You’ Declares the Lord, ‘Plans to Prosper You and Not to Harm You, Plans to Give You Hope and a Future.’’ I love the promise of something better just waiting for me to wake up and be willing to see the bigger picture for my life, especially when life is feeling a little less than I might desire it to be.
And on those days when I myself am feeling less than who I desire to be, you know, being defeated, discouraged and depressed, this verse helps me remember that a tough time isn’t happening to me, its happening for me. And then I can pause, pray and breathe in the question “What is mine to learn and do here?”
For a few years now, I have been putting a simple flag doodle I created on social media, and each year it gets a positive reaction from the audience. I think of it as a personal manifesto for the world and it came about as I was contemplating all that our forefathers were up against those 200 plus years ago. Despite their challenges, they had a vision for their lives and the community they wanted to create.
I can see now that they followed the simple goal setting plan to success that thousands of business leaders, entrepreneurs, parents and individuals have followed since.
It starts with an idea, a dream, a vision that you commit to paper, mapping out the possibilities and then sharing your precious dream with a few trusted souls who share your character trait of possibility thinking. Once comfortable with your vision, you declare it publicly, knowing that you will be held accountable for following through and doing everything in your power to make it happen.
It’s sort of like a personal manifesto. A document that declares what you believe and desire for your life in language that would lead one to believe that it’s already happened. We act ‘as if,’ using affirmative prayer and claiming our birthright as a child of God who is designed to prosper, not just in money, but in health, love, success and peace.
My flag doodle begins with the declaration that: I hold these truths. We are prosperous. We are capable and willing to live our purpose. We are blessed beyond measure. We have every opportunity to be what and who we desire to be. We are one. These are self-evident.
It’s my favorite line from that famous document penned all those years ago by those like-minded visionaries: We hold these truths to be self-evident. For me personally, I believe it’s telling me “This is a no brainer. You know this stuff, you just forgot and need to be reminded.”
I’m going to be working with a small group around some of these very concepts over the next six months, and you’d be welcome to join us. The group is called Sea Sisters Self-Care Salon and will happen online (so you can join from anywhere) and includes a monthly coaching call with me, a private Facebook group, some great discussions with supportive people and a couple of surprises from me. Here’s the link if you’d like to check it out: https://annleach.mykajabi.com/pl/89994, but hurry, because we start Monday night.
So, what plans of prosperity does God have for you that you need to be reminded of today? What future will you create and declare for yourself and your family, and with whom will you share your declaration of truth? I hope you take some time this weekend to reflect on your own truths that are self-evident.
