It appears country singer/songwriter Jake Owen made quite the impression with his fans here in the Four States when he first visited Downstream Casino in 2013.
At the time, he was riding high from accolades for his third album, 2011’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” which spawned hit songs “Alone With You,” “The One That Got Away” and “Anywhere with You.”
“His fans have repeatedly asked us to bring him back,” said Downstream General Manager Jani Cummings.
The casino listened listened. And it acted. The 37-year-old will be back at Downstream for an 8 p.m. concert this Saturday.
“He has charted plenty of hits since then, and his career just keeps climbing to new heights,” Cummings said. “We are thrilled to welcome (him) back.”
Owen’s latest hit is “Down to the Honkytonk,” which is from his sixth major album, “Greetings from Jake Owen.”
He doesn’t take his success lightly.
“I went from a playing in a bar on a bar stool for free beer and tip money, where people weren’t paying attention to me, to now I’ve got their attention,” Owen said. “It’s up to me to what I feed them with my music. It’s up to me how I do that. I’ve put a lot of thought into how great the songs are and how I want people to perceive me.
“I was given such a great gift. It’s a miracle that never stops amazing me and reminding me to give thanks, every day,” he continued. “Having a wife and daughter gives me a lot more purpose. I was much more selfish before, but now I think about what kind of role model I’ll be. I just want to be a better man.”
The Vero Beach, Florida native is well-known for his high-energy performances and laid-back style. It’s those unique attributes, coupled with fun songs such as “Down to the Honkytonk,” that “makes Jake Owen the perfect concert act for our 11th anniversary and July 4 weekend,” Cummings said.
Tickets, ranging from $50 to $65, are now on sale.
