Drew Morgan always wanted to tour with a superstar.

"I just didn't know it'd be my best friend," he said.

Morgan, along with Trae Crowder and Corey Forrester, will perform at 8 p.m. tonight at the Gillioz Theatre in Springfield as part of the WellRED Comedy Tour.

Though Crowder went viral and shot to superstardom as a result of his YouTube videos in which he rants about politics and the day's hot topics, the show isn't just about "The Liberal Redneck."

"What we've put together is a full show," Morgan said. "We are different enough, but the show has a through line in it to where it's thematic but not overlapping. It's a full show, and people really get that."

The trio has toured and written together for a few years. Each comedian brings his own take on growing up in the South. The jokes are meant with love, however, as indicated in the tour's tagline: "From Dixie, With Love."

"It’s about dancing to country music at a gay wedding," according to a bio on the tour website. "It’s about loving your neighbor whether you have the same religion, skin color or sexual preference, as long as they cheer for the same college football team. ... It is about leaving behind bigotry but remembering the fried okra."

The show isn't just for Southerners, however.

"My comedy is for everybody who can laugh at themselves," Morgan said.

Tickets: $32.
