Several injured in traffic accidents on roads in area

A Pittsburg, Kan., man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday at Centennial Street and Broadway, according to Pittsburg police.

Robert Mishmash, 55, one of the drivers, was taken to Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.

Arthur Browne, 64, of Baton Rouge, La., was the other driver.

Browne was eastbound on Centennial Street and turning right onto Broadway, police said. Browne drove his tractor-trailer slightly into the inside lane of Centennial Street so he could complete his wide turn, and the rig collided with the Mishmash vehicle.

A Pittsburg resident was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday on Kansas 7, a quarter-mile north of Highway 126, according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.

Jody L. Ghumm, 37, one of the drivers, was flown to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin.

Rosalee M. Peters, 59, of Pittsburg, was the other driver.

The southbound Peters vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the northbound Ghumm motorcycle, the department said.

A Grove, Okla., man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 76 in Tiff City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Billy S. Crawford, 25, the driver, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

The westbound vehicle ran off the road and struck an embankment, the patrol said.
