A suspect in a bank robbery Thursday in Neosho reportedly has confessed to his involvement in a number of armed robberies in the region, including three this year in Joplin one in Webb City.

The Joplin Police Department said in a news release today that charges will be sought against Richard A. Bratt, 57, of rural Diamond, for robberies at Commerce Bank, 2980 S. McClelland Boulevard, on Sept. 10; at Aldi’s grocery store, 3205 E. 20th St., on May 23; and at Hollywood Theater, 201 N. North Park Lane, on May 10.

Carl Francis, chief of police in Webb City, said charges also will be sought against Bratt for the July 10 armed robbery of Commerce Bank in Webb City.

Bratt already is charged in Newton County with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest for a hold-up of U.S. Bank on Neosho Boulevard shortly before noon Thursday. Bratt was captured by Neosho police within eight minutes of an alarm being sounded by the bank.
