COLUMBUS, Kan. — A Cherokee County jury on Friday found a Columbus man guilty of six felony and misdemeanor drug charges for an October 2007 crime in Baxter Springs.
Cherokee County Attorney John Bullard said Larry Overman was found guilty on counts including felony methamphetamine manufacturing, felony possession of meth ingredients, and felony and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The verdict came at the end of a trial that lasted four days, including jury deliberation
Assistant Kansas Attorney General Steve Wilhoft prosecuted the case. Overman’s attorney is Robert Myers.
Bullard said Overman’s next court appearance in this case is scheduled for Nov. 1, when sentencing may take place. He is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 10 on a previous drug conviction.
