Three people hurt in traffic accidentson roads in area

A Joplin man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 5 a.m. Sunday on Kansas Highway 126, a half-mile west of the Highway 69 bypass near Pittsburg, Kan., according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.

Joshua T. Thomas, 21, the driver, was taken to Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.

The car struck two utility poles in the accident, the department said.

A Neosho woman suffered moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 5:15 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 44, two miles west of Joplin, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Andrea D. Galardo, 26, the driver, was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin.

Galardo lost control of her eastbound vehicle, which entered the median and overturned, the patrol said.

A Neosho woman was injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction accident at 3:40 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 71, seven miles south of Joplin, the patrol said.

Claudette D. Nelson, 33, one of the drivers, was taken to Freeman Neosho Hospital.

Jose L. Miranda, 25, of Rogers, Ark., and Hannah M. Flinn, 41, of Joplin, were the other drivers.

Nelson, who was going south, swerved to miss a hay bale in the road. The vehicle was struck from behind by the Flinn vehicle. The Nelson vehicle then struck the southbound Miranda vehicle in the side.
