Joplin police detained several people for questioning in the wake of a shooting Friday afternoon on the south side of the city.

Capt. Trevor Duncan of the Joplin Police Department said no injuries were reported in the 12:50 p.m. outside the Kum & Go store at 50th and Main streets.

Duncan said two vehicles were involved in the incident and that an occupant of one of the vehicles apparently shot out a tire on the other. He said the shooting was preceded by a disturbance at the home of one of the people involved and ended on the convenience store lot.

No charges had been filed by late Friday afternoon, and the names of those were still being withheld by police.
