The Joplin High School softball team, which fell to Seneca 6-0 behind the one-hit pitching of Jamin Landreth, remained winless in its Paige Neal/Christina Freeman Tournament on Friday night.

The Lady Eagles, 0-3 overall and 0-2 in Pool B play, had their game with Willard late Friday night postponed because of lightning.

Scores of other Pool B games: Tulsa Metro Christian 4, Seneca 2; Raymore-Peculiar 12, Willard 0; Ray-Pec 8, Metro Christian 7.

Pool A results were Blue Springs 3, McDonald County 0; McDonald County 7, Edmond North 0; Blue Springs 3, Carl Junction 0; Edmond North 8, Ava 3, and Carl Junction 7, Ava 0.

Joplin's game with Willard has been reset for 11 a.m. today at JHS. First, though, the Lady Eagles play Metro Christian at 9 a.m.

In other pool games at Missouri Southern, it's Ray-Pec vs. Seneca at 11 a.m., Blue Springs vs. Edmond North at 9 a.m. and McDonald County vs. Ava at 11 a.m.

The ninth-place game is set for 1:30 p.m. at Joplin High School. The first- and third-place games will be held at 3 p.m. at Southern.

Seneca's Landreth, who bested Mallory McConnell, struck out 12, walked three and hit two batters. The safety was a double by Miranda Johnson in the sixth.

McConnell struck out six and allowed just four hits.

Seneca, which scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, struck out eight. Megan Roark tripled and Tawni Mailes doubled for Seneca.

Tara Higgins pitched and hit McDonald County past Edmond North.

Higgins threw a one-hitter, didn't issue a walk and struck out 12. She also blasted a two-run homer in the first inning.

Amber Bratton blasted a three-run homer in the third to break the game open.

Freshman Kaily Harvey had three hits and Higgins, Bratton and Gayla Booth added two hits apiece.

Fall Festival

NEOSHO, Mo. - Southwest High and Strafford won two pool softball games in the Fall Festival at Crowder College.

Southwest beat Billings 9-3 and Diamond 4-3 in the Blue Pool. Strafford stopped Cassville 7-3 and Purdy 12-2 in the White Pool. In other pool games, Southwest nipped Diamond 4-3 and Purdy edged Cassville 2-1.

In bracket games today, Billings plays Purdy at 9 a.m. and Diamond meets Cassville at 10:30. Southwest faces the Billings-Purdy winner at noon and Strafford plays the Diamond-Cassville winner at 1:30. The championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
